Our Spanish program aims to teach the relevant aspects of Hispanic culture in general and Costa Rican culture in particular. Our goal is to help ground the academic focus within a real context, enabling students to learn firsthand what our language and culture means for individuals, families and communities.
We aim to promote global awareness and tolerance through the sharing of cultures. Our courses aim to teach not only a new language, but also effective tools for communication and understanding in our constantly evolving global culture. Students discuss local culture in their classes and include cultural observations in their homework. We focus our work as much on the similarities between the students’ own cultures and Costa Rican culture as the differences.
Cultural activities are designed according to the needs of the students, and range from formal lectures to field trips to local cultural and social events.
